How Brands Are Getting Metaverse Ready

Brands: Get Metaverse Ready

The idea of a Metaverse seems like something from science fiction. It sounded cool until Mark Zuckerberg ruined it for me with his video. Well, initially. I supposed he wanted to be the first to introduce it to a worldwide audience? In all of my tiny and humble facebook circles, many mocked Zuckerberg. They rolled their eyes at yet another way he is trying to take over the world.

But let's divorce the Metaverse idea from Mark Zuckerberg for a moment (or forever?) To be clear, he doesn't own the Metaverse. He just changed the Facebook name to Meta, that's all. The Metaverse itself is truly hard to define at this point.

It's exciting to consider what could come from this possibility in the future. If you're a brand, you understand that brands are about relationships and emotional connections between a product and a consumer. When the Metaverse becomes a reality, brands will have an even more powerful tool to create emotional connections with consumers. They will be making realistic representations of a brand's products and increasing the opportunity for experiences within a Metaverse.

Imagine walking into a showroom at Ferrari and taking it out for a drive in five different locations - all from your living room. Or doing yoga from a different tropical beach each day of the week. Everything looks and feels so real. You are immersed in a new world. I remember watching Avatar in 3D for the first time, and it blew our minds! I think our first interactions within the Metaverse will blow our minds again.

Major brands are already dabbling in this new world, as it could represent a significant economic opportunity. Be aware of these changes and begin to develop strategies as you discover where this emerging technology is headed.

Brands and businesses need to be asking questions like, "Is the Metaverse a testing ground for my products?" "Can customers experience our products before they buy them?" "What kind of mood or feeling can we create for our customers online?"

I watched the video below, and it really got me thinking about the future of business and brands. Let me know in the comments below what you think!
